1 – What are facial oils and what are their types?
Facial oils are fatty substances that do not dissolve in water and are extracted from a variety of sources.
There are three types of oils for the face:
• Mineral oils – are often part of the creams and help to protect the skin barrier.
• Essential oils – they give the fragrances, much used in aromatherapy, but that cause allergies with some frequency, especially with sun exposure, must be used with care by those who have sensitive skin.
• Vegetable oils – are made from plants; have antioxidants and vitamins that nourish the skin and treat various problems, if they are well chosen.
2 – How to choose the best facial oil?
To choose the best facial oil, you should take into account your skin type and possibly the skin problem you want to treat. In fact, you can use a facial oil only to take care of your skin and keep it beautiful, or else to help treat a specific problem (blemishes, acne, etc.). We emphasize that there are suitable facial oils for all skin types, including oily and acne skin.
3 – What are the best facial oils?
Oily skin / acneic – have excessive shine, broad pores, pimples and blackheads. The most indicated are: tea tree oil, passion fruit, grapeseed oil, apricot seed oil and primrose oil.
Sensitive Skin – This type of skin is prone to redness, burning and itching. The most indicated oils are: coconut, avocado, chia and sea buckthorn.
Dry skin – scales easily, has a tendency to present ridges and for dehydration. In this case, the most indicated oils are: olive, sweet almonds, camellia (like Japanese oil “tsubaki oil”), safflower oil and sunflower.
Mature skin – from the age of 35/40, the skin begins to show sagging and signs of aging. The most indicated facial oils are: jojoba, marula, argan, rosehip oil and tamanu.
Normal skin – anyone who has this type of skin can use anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-aging facial oils. Of note are rosehip oil, jojoba, sunflower, grapeseed oil, coconut, argan and sweet almond oils.
4 – How to apply facial oils?
Facial oils can be applied morning and / or evening. To do this, place only two to three drops in the clean palm, lightly rub one hand against the other and press them lightly across the face and neck, avoiding the eyes to avoid risk of eye irritation.
In the morning, apply the facial oil immediately before sunscreen and make-up.
