In this article, we will propose you a daily routine to treat acne in your home, quite simple and affordable, for any age, for all genders. We have clarified that this article is not sponsored.
Acne is a skin problem, resulting from inflammation of the sebaceous glands or sebaceous follicles. It manifests itself through pimples, blackheads and other very unpleasant signs for the self-esteem of those affected.
This problem arises most frequently between 10 and 24 years (“juvenile acne“), but also appears in other ages, in this case called “adult acne.”
In fact, we have all been bothered by acne, even with occasional pimples or bubbles. In this article, we will give you tips on how to treat it at home, if you do not want to do a dermatology consultation, for whatever reason. Watch de photo gallery and don’t forget to read the tips!
1 – Clean the skin.
Start by cleaning your skin with a product containing salicylic acid, such as: Neutrogena Visibly Clear Spot Proofing Daily Cleansing Gel (13.26 € to 14.95 €). Start by wetting the face, spread this product with a gentle massage (avoiding the eyes and lips area) and remove with plenty of water. Dry the face without rubbing, making gentle compressions and preferably using a tissue or a soft towel (used alone for that purpose and washed very often – ideally after each use).
Salicylic acid promotes cell renewal, which means that in this routine you should NOT apply any more exfoliating. Salicylic acid will remove dead cells from the surface of your skin, helping to reduce the marks left by acne and excessive oiliness.
2 – Moisturize the skin.
After cleansing, moisturize your skin with a suitable product. We suggest one of the following: Neutrogena Visibly Clear Spot Proofing Oil-Free Cream 50ml (12.77 € to 16.55 €) OR La Roche Posay Effaclar MAT (11.44 € at 17.11 €). Hydration is essential to prevent skin dryness, since salicylic acid cleansing and benzoyl peroxide treatment cause a pulling sensation and even scaling of the most sensitive areas.
3 – Treat the areas with acne.
Only in areas with acne, apply a product with benzoyl peroxide, such as Isdin Acniben Peroxiben 60g (about 8.55 €) OR Benzac gel 5% 40g (about 15.85 €). Apply a small amount of the gel on top of the areas affected by pimples and allow to dry, not forgetting to wash your hands after the application. At first, you should apply this gel only at night, increasing the application to twice a day after two weeks. If you use it in the morning, be sure to apply sunscreen!
4 – Protect the skin.
In the morning, after cleansing and moisturizing the skin, it is imperative to protect the skin from the sun with a good sunscreen, as pimples often leave red or brownish marks, very unsightly when they are squeezed (which they should not do!) or exposed to Sun. So, after the moisturizer, apply a suitable sunscreen, which may even have color to disguise a little acne. For example, Aveeno Baby Continuous Protection Zinc Oxide Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 (Neutromena Sheer Zinc Oxide Dry-Touch Face SPF 50, Oil-Free (about 10.72 €), CeraVe Ultra-Light Face Lotion / Face Moisturizer with Sunscreen SPF 30 (about € 20.72).
Try this routine for 15 days, without using more products or treatments, and you will see the difference!
